Testimonial - Claire Cunningham, England

In 2008 I discovered that I had grade 3 breast cancer in my right breast. I was given a lumpectomy, chemotherapy and radiotherapy. In 2012 the cancer returned in the same breast. I was then given a mastectomy and reconstructive surgery. I was not offered chemotherapy or anything further. I continued with my life in a healthy, positive way. In January 2016 after feeling very ill it was confirmed that the cancer had spread to my bones, liver, lung, lymphatic system and now my left breast. I was given 6 months to live and was told there was nothing more could be done.

From January 2016 to August 2016 I continued self- medication along with diet, exercise, vitamins, minerals and anything else which I had learnt had a positive effect on cancer cells. Unfortunately, by the end of August 2016 I was very ill and told the cancer had spread into my skull and spine. At this time I became bedridden, unable to talk, walk or have any quality of life. My life as I knew it came to an end. The oncologists said there was no chance for me and wanted to put me in a hospice. My friends were desperate to find something that could help save my life… and it was in November 2016 that they found the Hallwang Clinic in Germany. My scans were sent and they said they could help me. At this point I was given up to 4 weeks to live and it was imperative I got to The Hallwang very quickly. I was flown by Air Ambulance to Germany where an Ambulance was waiting to transport me to the clinic. From this point my life was about to be transformed. In total I spent 5 months in the clinic receiving treatments. The Hallwang saved my life and gave me back my quality of life. After receiving the first immunotherapy vaccinations my life changed completely. Within 11 days the physio, Jurgen, had me walking on sticks down the corridor. After having been in a wheelchair for 4 months, this was a true miracle. I became able to talk and interact with people once again. In truth I had started to remember who I had been before my body had become ravaged with cancer. My time at The Hallwang was remarkable. It is a truly holistic place which concentrates on making you better. The doctors, nursing staff and everyone there is committed to making you well. The food is fantastic, all created to ensure you are eating the best ingredients to keep you strong throughout the treatments. The setting is in the middle of The Black Forest which warms your soul every day. Alongside the treatments you are given daily infusions of everything your body needs to keep the side effects to a minimum. These include all vitamins, minerals, boosting fluids and therapies. There is a fantastic phychiatrist, Ben, who is always available to discuss worries and also offers numerous meditation techniques which truly work, even for pain relief. Where I am now!!

I left The Hallwang at the end of March 2017. ALL of my tumours have shrunk. My skull cancer has reduced 80 %. My breast cancer has gone completely. My liver tumour has been reduced to 1 cm x 1.5 cm. There is no sign of any tumours in my spinal fluid or lung. I walk twice a day with my dog. I am running my business, which has been my passion for 20 years. I laugh and feel blessed to be here. I feel better than I have for 2 years and my tumour markers have shrunk from 5000 to (last test 21/6/2017) 28!!! The normal range is 0 – 32. Miracles happen at The Hallwang. I met the most inspirational people of my life. I made friends for life and more importantly I got my life back. When I left England on 22nd November 2016 no-one thought they would see me again. They now see me smiling every day. I am returning to The Hallwang at the end of July. I am probably more excited than I have ever been to see doctors, nurses, restaurant staff and my friends the cleaners (Gerda especially). The Hallwang is all about HOPE and not hopelessness. Thomas Carlyle said … “he who has health has hope and he who has hope has everything “

MIRACLES DO HAPPEN !!

Testimonial - Paul Thomas-Peter, United Kingdom

My name is Paul Thomas-Peter, I'm 59 years old and from the UK. In early 2014 I was diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma of the skin on my right temple. It was removed and I was assured that it rarely spread. Later that year I found tiny lumps near my right ear, they were removed and it was confirmed that my cancer had metastasised. I went on to have a partial neck dissection to remove all the lymph nodes and the parotid gland in the right side of my neck. I then had 35 days of radiotherapy combined with two doses of platinum based chemotherapy. My treatment ended in November 2014 and I was told there was a good chance of a cure.

In March 2015 the results of a CT scan showed that despite the treatment, my cancer had spread to the mediastinal lymph nodes in my chest. I was told it would continue spreading, it was terminal and no further treatment other than palliative care was available. I was told I had between 3 and 18 months to live. I have never accepted that nothing could be done, I tried a number of natural therapies including changing my diet, details are in my blog: www.tryingtobeatcancer.org.uk This seemed to slow down the rate of spread but never stopped it.

My wife Helen and I continued looking at possible treatments and in late 2016 read about immunotherapy. We found that it had shown remarkable results in cases of my cancer and similar cancers. We discussed the possibility of receiving immunotherapy with our oncologist in York and had a second opinion at the Royal Marsden hospital in London. Essentially, although the drugs we wanted had been approved for use within the NHS they were not approved for my specific cancer, so I couldn't be given them even if I paid for them myself. The attitude of the NHS to immunotherapy was negative and it didn't seem that the people we spoke to had much knowledge about it.

In January 2017 we read an article in The Sunday Times about people funding their treatment abroad and this article mentioned The Hallwang Clinic. We contacted them immediately, had my diagnosis and previous scan results sent to them and they were positive about my prospects. They insisted on testing my tissue samples before committing to a treatment plan which reassured me of their professionalism and knowledge. They phoned me at home after the tests were complete, explained what had been found and explained what treatment they felt I should receive, noting that it had an excellent chance of success. It was a breath of fresh air to be spoken to as an adult and have things explained rather than being treated like a 6 year old who wouldn't understand.. I felt they were on my side, trying to cure me and would do their utmost to do so. I have to admit I was in tears after the phone call, I had hope again.

We attended the Hallwang Clinic in early March 2017. By this time I had survived 6 months longer than my NHS oncologist's outside prognosis but I had gone downhill rapidly during January and February 2017. I believe that in early March 2017 I only had weeks to live, I was short of breath, had difficulty walking for any reasonable distances and had developed a terrible cough due to the tumours in my chest. The doctors and staff at the Hallwang were incredible, they treated me like an adult and it was clear they had my best interest at heart. I had my treatment and the reasons for deciding on it explained in some detail which gave me confidence in it as I like to know what is happening. I was treated with 2 immunotherapy drugs together with antigen-specific vaccinations, a personalised combination of treatments aimed at what my specific cancer was doing inside my body. Because of how ill I was, I was also put on a short course of antibiotics and also a low dose of chemotherapy in tablet form to prevent my condition worsening before the immunotherapy treatment began to work. I also had a PET CT scan so that we knew exactly where we stood and can measure the effects of the treatment.

This approach is something I would never have received from the NHS or any medical facility in the UK whether I paid for it or not. It is leading edge treatment, but well documented not experimental, it is personalised to me and my cancer. The facilities at the Hallwang Clinic are excellent as well; the rooms are clean, spacious and well equipped, the food is excellent and the atmosphere is positive. The facilities allow for relatives to stay with you and there is 24 hour medical cover although I haven't needed it thankfully. The treatment began to work within 3 weeks, which is earlier than expected. Tumours visible on and in my body began to disappear, some overnight. I had an examination by my NHS oncologist who was surprised by the results but critical of the treatment.

After 12 weeks of treatment at 3 weekly intervals a recent scan showed all my tumours had disappeared or reduced in size significantly. I am certain I am on the road to full remission. I have suffered very limited side effects and now have an excellent quality of life. The treatment is not cheap but we consider it money well spent, I would be dead now without this treatment, my recovery to date is like a miracle. From here, we move forward into largely uncharted territory, this is new treatment so there is limited information about long term survival. However, I am confident that I am not now going to die in the near future and if I only get a year or two of good quality life it will be more than worth it to my wife and I.

Testimonial - Eugenia Prendergast, Australia

I would like to say that I am very pleased with the Hallwang Clinic. There is nothing like the Clinic here in Australia and it is a very long journey to take to Germany from here in order to receive cancer treatment that should be available for everyone. I have just returned from my third stay at the Clinic which was only for two days when I received immune system vitamins and vaccines according to the antibodies found in my blood that I would be receptive to. This I feel is what is missing in Australia and that is personalised testing for the medicines that a person would be receptive to. In Australia there still just is a line of medicines that is used for everyone to see if they respond to the medicine. For example, at Hallwang I was tested for my responsiveness to Removab which I tested negative for. So I did not have to waste time and money only to find out that it would not work for me. This is not done in Australia. I am given vitamin infusions which I need and support my immune system which is also not done in Australia. It would be good if Australia followed Germany in infusing patients with vitamin support before they receive other treatmens such as chemotherapy, which depletes a person.

It was also a pleasure to stay at the Clinic and this time it was only for two days as it was not found necessary to stay for longer. All the staff are truly dedicated and very diligent in their work. The hygiene was excellent as was the fresh food. This is not found in many places in Australia. The staff took any time it was necessary to make sure that I was comfortable and felt safe.

I have bone metastases from breast cancer, and I went to Hallwang as there is nothing else in Australia only going through treatments that are really “blanket" treatments for everyone and they may not work. I have great faith in the chief oncologist and all the staff that if my cancer progresses, Hallwang Clinic will try their very best for the best outcome for me, I would encourage everyone to travel to Germany as there is life saving treatment available there.

Testimonial - Kate Douglas, United Kingdom

My name is Kate Douglas and I am from the UK, originally diagnosed with stage 3b breast cancer in October 2010 and then rediagnosed with advanced breast cancer which had spread to my bones, liver and lung in Dec 2012, after exhausting all treatment options in the UK I was told in September 2016 that due to limited drugs available, the fact that I had numerous failed lines of treatment and the fact that my liver was 60 per cent covered in tumours it would be unlikely that I made Christmas. I was given a treatment option but encouraged to enjoy what little time I had left with my six year old daughter and family despite feeling well! On hearing this it would have been quite easy just to accept this but I just couldn't, I have too much to live for!

Further to my research I found the Hallwang Private Oncology clinic and quickly got in touch with them to see if there were options. On arrival, at the Hallwang Private Oncology clinic myself and my partner were welcomed to the clinic for a consultation with the head oncologist. He was a breath of fresh air, full of positivity and his knowledge of all treatments, conventional and alternative, are incredible. Suddenly I felt like a person with an identity rather than a number who had been put in the 'written off' pile. All the staff and nurses were so friendly and the food was amazing. It was a ‚ home from home' feel which was important if I was to attend the clinic regularly. The medical team has since guided my treatment plan every step of the way and I have full confidence in them and as a result my tumour markers have dropped by over half, my liver enzymes are nearly in normal range and to top it off my three month scan showed substantial reduction of the tumours in my liver with no new sites.

I have attended the clinic with my partner 'les' and also flown alone for treatment. I never feel worried that I will be alone as I have made lots of new friends at the clinic and everyone is so welcoming, individuals and families from all over the world with that one wish 'to be well again'. I am fully reliant on fundraising through gofundme and so far I have been blessed, I'd also like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who have got me to this point.

Testimonial - Matthew and Jennifer W., Australia

From Matt

Hallwang clinic have not only shown how advanced their approach to treating cancer is, but how patient orientated their medical team are. After being diagnosed with a rare form of sarcoma in 2014 and then exhausting all available avenues in Australia I looked abroad, and came across this clinic. After making the journey to the clinic, the team made the process of getting treated for cancer as painless as it should be. Everything was laid out before me, and I was offered a targeted approach, something which had not been offered to me previously. After two visits to the clinic I saw and felt a noticeable difference with my tumors. It is safe to say that the targeted has worked in my case, and I’m very pleased with the results.

I’m had some major concerns here in Australia, with some clinics I had visited, with their medical hygiene practices, some which left alot to be desired! Hallwang's clinic approach to hygiene was superb and didn’t leave me questioning anything.

From Jennifer

After the initial shock of being told my 24yo son had cancer, we were told it was a wait and see prognosis, and only surgery was required. This was definitely NOT the case.  His diagnosis was then changed to extremely rare and highly aggressive, so 9 surgeries followed in an 11 month time frame, and numerous bouts of chemo and radiation. His health became much worse, and the cancer was now metastatic, with no known case histories in Australia and only a few world wide. We had exhausted all avenues here, and also with testing in the united states, all with zero results or options for a positive outcome. Hallwang and their staff were brilliant in their approach. They came up with a targeted therapy and treatment plan, which Matt and the Drs here are still following. From the time you walk in the door there, treatment starts happening. There are no "wait and see" approaches, which as we know do not work and allow for the spread of disease. We cannot thank the lovely nursing staff, kitchen staff, receptionists, plus Dr Nolting and Sharouf for their attention to detail, care and looking outside the box approach.

Testimonial - Alice and Claude M., France

We came to the Hallwang oncology clinic because Alice was treated in France for a very agressive relapse of a triple negative breast cancer in April 2016. Unfortunately the chemotherapy treatment given in France gave no result and it was impossible to have an immunotherapy in France either in a clinical trial or directly. After 8 weeks of immunotherapy treatment added to a vaccine in Hallwang combined with a chemotherapy in France, Alice has been in a almost complete remission.

Testimonial - Mark Fulton, Australia

"I am 47 years of age, male, and had stage 3 Breast Cancer in 2006. I received a mastectomy, Chemotherapy and was on hormone treatment, Tamoxifen, for 5 years. My cancer returned as stage 4 in 2014 and was in 14 of my lymph nodes and had metastasized to the lungs. My Oncologists in Australia could not offer me any new treatments and didn’t offer much hope, so I decided to make the trip to Germany due to their range of innovative, non-invasive treatments. They also have experience with male Breast Cancer unlike in Australia. I arrived at Hallwang Clinic July 2014, and stayed for just over 3 weeks.

The treatments I received at the clinic were Removab, Infusions, Dendritic Cells, GcMaf, Ozone Therapy and Hyperthermia. I found the clinic like a home away from home. I cannot speak highly enough of the staff and personalised treatment I received. I had little, if no side effects and I found the doctors at Hallwang to always have my best interest at heart.

When I returned to Australia, I continued to eat healthily with my no sugar, no carbohydrates diet and incorporated organic food into my life. Hallwang clinic also supplied me with 3 months of treatment to take home. I knew at any time if I had any questions, I could contact the doctors there. I also continued with Infusions and Hyperthermia treatments at home.

My PET scan back in Australia, to my immense joy, has revealed that my cancer is now totally gone. I can only regard the treatment I received while at Hallwang Clinic as truly life saving.
